    1 quart= 4 cups
    1 gallon= 1 quart

    1 recipe= 1 quart
    Tripled recipe= 3 * 1 quart= 3 quarts

Tripled recipe= 3 quarts * 4 cups per quart= 12 cups used in triple recipe

    1 gallon= 16 cups

    16 cups – 12 cups used= 4 cups left

    Hope this helps! 🙂
